Coastal Racing - Coastal Racing Club

Coastal Racing is a non-profit, multisport racing team encompassing athletes from a multitude of endeavors. Our mission is to provide Virginia athletes an outlet to grow their athletic desires in a positive atmosphere. Members belong, socialize, train, and compete while fostering friendships and meaningful social contact.

The result of a major undertaking by local athletes, Coastal Racing has brought together cyclists, duathletes, runners, triathletes and swimmers from beginner to elite.

Coastal Racing unites athletes from multiple disciplines. We are registered with national organizations USA Triathlon and USA Cycling, giving members an opportunity to train, socialize and compete in their sport of choice, while gaining valuable experience in other disciplines. We are also a member of the Virginia Cycling Association.

Coastal Racing welcomes athletes of all levels. Coastal Racing offers the following beginner clinics throughout the year:

·         Underwater swim video analysis

·         Transition clinics

·         How to ride in a group ride

·         Running clinic

·         Ocean swims

·         Practice triathlons in the ocean

·         Training with Power

·         USAT Rules Clinic led by a certified USAT official

Coastal Racing is an independent team. We are a volunteer-based organization run by members for the members. We recruit our own sponsors every year. Sponsor revenues help fund club activities, club insurance, web maintenance, clinics and continuing marketing efforts. Through our sponsors our members enjoy benefits such as discounts, promotional gear, clinics and other great benefits.

Coastal Racing dues are $50 for individuals and $90 for families for the calendar year (Dec-Dec).

Here's what you get as a Coastal Racer:

1) Training Clinics and Free Workout Plans. As a Coastal Racer, you'll be granted free access to the clinics and training plans that are sure to make you a stonger athlete! Our clinics are hosted by Sisu MultiSport & Endurance . All of our clinics are jam-packed with valuable information. Training plans for triathlons and running races of all distances are provided free on your User Menu courtesy of Coach Joel.

2) Team Emails and Forum Access. You'll receive a weekly email keeping you abreast of team activities, upcoming races, group workouts, clinics and socials. We include member highlights so you can get to know your teammates. We also keep you posted on cool offerings from our sponsors. The forum is for team members only. Post your thoughts, questions, comments, etc. and share your race reports with your teammates.

3) Group Workouts. Tired of working out alone? Throughout the year, Coastal Racing hosts many opportunities for you to participate in official group workouts of varying types including Thursday night ocean swims, Saturday group rides from Conte's Hilltop, morning Masters swim practices and the occasional flip cup practice (very important training here). More importantly, there are almost 90 athletes on our team! After attending a few clinics and socials, you're bound to find a handfull of partners that'll get you ready for the next race season!

4) Sponsor Discounts. Coastal Racers enjoy discounts of 10-30% off products and services offered by the team's awesome sponsors. You'll save on everything from apparel and equipment to training and wellness. A full listing of sponsor discounts is located in the User Menu.

5) Race and Bike Trip Discounts. Coastal Racing members receive a discount on race application fees associated with the Coastal Crit and the VBLA Ocean Swim Series. We also provide discounted registrations for members who attend our annual bike trip. These announcements are sent to you in the team email.

6) Friends and Fans. If you couldn't care less about the benefits
discussed above, consider the friends that you'll make as you navigate through the clinics, group workouts and socials that Coastal Racing has to offer. There's absolutely nothing like seeing familiar faces and hearing familiar voices root you on by name during out-of-town races. Go Coastal!!!!!!!

6) Cool Schwag and Team Gear. Membership dues include a driFit team Tshirt, custom Specialized water bottle, car sticker, membership card, free appetizers at club socials and discounted teamwear. Everyone looks fast in blue and white.

Coastal Racing headquarters are in Virginia Beach. We have active members in Williamsburg, Richmond and beyond.
